  Buttermilk Torte- 2002 "Egg-stravaganza Contest"- Adult third place


Contestant: Eloise Weiss

Ingredients:

(crust)
1 ½ cups flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
½ cup canola oil
2 tablespoons milk

(filling)
4-5 eggs
1 2/3 cups sugar
4 tablespoons butter, melted
3 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon salt
¾ cup buttermilk
½ - 1 cup walnuts

Directions:

Crust - Stir flour, sugar and salt together. Make a well in center, add oil and milk. Combine just until it holds together. Crumble into 10 inch torte pan and press smooth.

Filling - Beat eggs, add remaining ingredients and mix until well combined. Pour into crust and top with desired amount of walnuts. Bake at 350°F 40 to 45 minutes. Store in refrigerator.
